Aberdeen begin their defence of the Scottish League Cup when they play Livingston at Pittodrie this evening.
The Dons ended a 19-year trophy drought when they beat Inverness Caley Thistle on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Celtic Park in March.
Boss Derek McInnes is desperate to bring more silverware to the North East and told the club website: “We saw the benefits it brought to the city. It whets the appetite for everybody - the supporters and players alike.
“We want to experience days like that more often and the cups do bring that opportunity for every club, Livingston included. I am sure every one of the Premiership clubs at the start of the campaign will feel that it could be them.
"For us to get into the next round, we are going to have to deal with that challenge but obviously the motivation for us, after last season, is there. It is easy to visualise after last season's cup final and taking 43,000 fans to the final. Our players will want to experience that again."
Livingston won the last League Cup meeting between the teams, earning a 3-2 victory after extra time at Pittodrie en route to winning the trophy in 2003/04.
