Barry Robson had an early penalty saved but Derek McInnes' men won easily as the visitors finished the game with nine men.

Shay Logan headed the opener in 33 minutes and Niall McGinn and Adam Rooney (penalty) struck early in the second half.

Jonny Hayes claimed the fourth goal and Rooney pounced in stoppage time to complete the scoring in front of 15,184 fans at Pittodrie.

The second leg takes place in a week's time but the Dons can now look forward to a meeting with Dutch side Groningen in the next round.
