The 32-year-old was with Clyde and Kilmarnock before joining the Rams in 2011 and now returns north of the border ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Dons boss Derek McInnes has also brought in Ryan Hedges (Barnsley), Ash Taylor (Northampton Town) and Curtis Main (Motherwell) this summer.
