Queen of the South’s experienced midfielder Derek Young stepped up his comeback after two months out following toe surgery by playing for the Doonhamer’s reserve side on Tuesday night in a 2-1 win over Alloa.
The 33-year-old opted for surgery after being troubled by the problem since the start of the season, however the former Aberdeen, Dunfermline, St Johnstone, Partick Thistle and Morton player could be back in first team action later this month.
Palmerston Manager Jim McIntyre said: “Derek has made good progress but he is still a couple of weeks away from being ready.”
