Down Memory Lane.
Today sees the 60th Scottish League Cup Final and the first occasion that Celtic and Dunfermline Athletic have met at this stage of the competition. A total of 45 Scottish clubs have taken part in just under 5,000 games since the competition began in season 1946/47 and to date, twelve different clubs have their name engraved on the famous three handled silver trophy.
Both Finalists have played the following number of games in The Scottish League Cup and includes all of the matches played by both clubs in this season's competition:-

25th August 1993 – Arbroath 1 Celtic 9 with the Celts goals coming from McAvennie and Payton, who both scored hat-tricks, with the other goals being scored by Nicholas, McGinlay and McNally.
DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC
26th August, 1953 – Dunfermline Athletic 6 Dumbarton 1 with the Pars' goals coming from George O'Brien, George Henderson, Ron Mailer, Jimmy Smith and two from Ken Currie.
13th August, 1958 – Dunfermline Athletic 6 Stirling Albion 1 with two goals apiece from Charlie Dickson and Harry Melrose, one from Willie Harvey and one own goal.
12th August, 1992 – Montrose 0 Dunfermline Athletic 6 with the Pars' goals coming from Derek McWilliams, Roddy Grant, Scott Leitch, Billy Davies and two goals from George O'Boyle.

2nd October, 1948 – Celtic 3 Clyde 6 with Gallacher scoring a hat-trick for Celtic.
30th August 1958 – St. Mirren 6 Celtic 3 with Celtic's goals being scored by Collins, who scored twice, and Auld.

28th August, 1982 – Dunfermline Athletic 1 Celtic 7.
12th October, 1946 – East Fife 7 Dunfermline Athletic 0.
The biggest home and away results achieved by any team in The Scottish League Cup is eleven goals. On 13th August, 1952, Ayr United defeated Dumbarton 11-1 and Hibernian defeated Alloa Athletic 11-2 on 22nd September, 1965. The only team to score eleven goals away from home is Partick Thistle against Albion Rovers on 11th August, 1993 with seven different players scoring that day for the Jags.

Celtic's last League Cup Success........
Celtic have lifted The Scottish League Cup on 12 occasions with their last success coming five years ago. In view of the Parkhead club's involvement in Europe, they did not enter the competition until the Third Round when they defeated Raith Rovers 4-0 on 5th September. The Celtic goalscorers that night were Chris Sutton, Alan Thompson and two goals from Tommy Johnson. The next round saw Celtic drawn away to Heart of Midlothian and after the match had finished 2-2 after 90 minutes, the Bhoys scored three times in extra-time to secure a 5-2 victory. There were five different goalscorers that night with the goals coming from Stephen Crainey, Jamie Smith, Colin Healy, Lubomir Moravcik and Jackie McNamara. The draw provided an Old Firm Semi-Final at Hampden Park on 7th February, 2001 and two goals from Henrik Larsson and one from Chris Sutton gave Celtic a 3-1 victory. The following month, Celtic defeated Kilmarnock 3-0 at Hampden in front of a 48,830 crowd with a hat-trick from Henrik Larsson.
