Raith Rovers striker John Baird was thrilled to score the goal that saw Raith Rovers beat Rangers 1-0 at Easter Road to win the Ramsdens Cup on Sunday.
The 28-year-old returned for a second stint at Stark’s Park in January after a frustrating spell at Partick Thistle and grabbed the winner just three minutes from the end of extra time.
He said: “This is the best day of my life and my career. I don’t think there are words to describe scoring a winner against one of the Old Firm in a cup final with minutes to go.
“It is just a dream. If someone had told me a week before the transfer window closed I’d score a winner in a final against Rangers I wouldn’t have believed them.
“I was at low ebb back then because I wasn’t even playing so this is just unbelievable. We were written off before the game but we proved people wrong.”
