Here are a few facts and figures ahead of part one of a Dundee double header - the sides meet again in the third round of the League Cup at Tannadice on Wednesday September 24.

+ The most recent meeting between the teams was an SPL fixture at Tannadice on March 17, 2013. Michael Gardyne scored a last-minute leveller for Dundee United after Dundee, who had Gary Irvine sent off, had gone ahead through Ryan Conroy.

+ Dundee United are unbeaten in the last six derby matches - four wins and two draws.

+ Dundee's last derby victory was 1-0 at Dens Park on November 6, 2004. John Sutton scored a late winner after the visitors had Chris Innes and Mark Wilson sent off.

+ The last hat-trick in a Dundee derby was scored by Juan Sara, when the Dark Blues won 3-0 in a midweek game at Dens Park in September 2000.

+ There has only been one 0-0 draw in this fixture since 1989/90 - at Tannadice in August 2002.

+ Only five of the last 20 Dundee derbies have been won by the home side.

+ In 1987/88, the sides met on eight occasions. In addition to the four Premier Division matches, Dundee won a League Cup tie and United eventually came out on top in a Scottish Cup encounter in a second replay.
