Dunfermline Athletic win cinch League 1

Pars score five to secure promotion

Dunfermline Athletic thrashed Queen of the South 5-0 at East End Park to seal the cinch League 1 title in style with three games to spare.

Kane Ritchie-Hosler, ‎Matthew Todd, ‎Craig Wighton (2) and Kevin O'Hara were all on target as James McPake's side moved 13 points clear of Falkirk.

Neil Doncaster, SPFL chief executive, said: “Dunfermline Athletic have performed with real consistency throughout the season and we would like to congratulate them on winning the cinch League 1 title today.

“The club has lost only one match all season in the League, with their unbeaten run spanning nearly six months, which is quite incredible.

“This title is richly deserved, with Dunfermline Athletic also conceding the fewest goals of any side in the SPFL this season, and I’m sure their supporters and team will enjoy celebrating their immediate return to the cinch Championship.

“There is still much to play for across cinch League 1, with promotion and relegation play-off positions yet to be confirmed, as well as who finishes in 10th spot, and we wish all clubs in the division the very best of luck for the coming weeks.”
