Dunfermline Athletic have extended the contract of promising midfielder Shaun Byrne until May 2016 thanks to the financial help of the club’s fundraising venture, the Centenary Club Lifeline.
Byrne, who is tipped for a place in Scotland’s under-21 squad, has joined Ryan Williamson and Lewis Martin in signing extended deals, much to the delight of manager Jim Jefferies.
The East End Park boss said: “This is another great boost for everyone involved with Dunfermline. Shaun has played a lot of first-team games at a young age and never lets us down.
“He has great composure on the ball and will hopefully keep fulfilling the potential we believe he has. I have to thank him for making such an early decision to remain here.
“It is thanks to the fans and the success of the Centenary Club Lifeline, that the Club is able to extend the contract of talented young players.”
