Queen of the South defender Mark Durnan boosted his side’s play-off hopes by hitting the winner in last Saturday’s game with Hibs. The Palmerston men face Rangers this evening, and then Falkirk on Sunday, in what looks like being a key few days in the promotion chase in the Championship.
Durnan took time out from his preparations to answer the SPFL Spotlight questions.
What is the best goal that you ever scored?
It has to be the one last Saturday at Easter Road because of where the build-up to the goal started. I played the ball forward from near the half-way line and then carried on running forward and was about 12 yards out when it came over and I was able to finish the move off.
It is also my best ever goal due to the importance of it in terms of going for the play-offs.
What is the best game that you have played in?
The Challenge Cup Final of 2013 against Partick Thistle. It was a brilliant game to be involved in as it had a huge build up and a big atmosphere.
We were the underdogs as we were in the league below them but we managed to win it on penalties however I managed to avoid taking one.
What is your favourite away ground?
Ibrox – I enjoyed playing there with Queen of the South earlier in the season.
What is your favourite other sport?
I like to play a bit of darts. I have tried golf but I am not really into it and not very good at it either.
Which player in the world would you bring to Queen of the South?
That has to be Lionel Messi – why would it not be - he is better than Ronaldo.
What is your favourite pre-match meal?
I have changed that recently and I am now a scrambled eggs, beans on toast man as opposed to the chicken and pasta I used to have.
What is your favourite music?
I like a bit of dance and a bit of rave but dance is my favourite. Iain Russell does the tunes for the players and he is decent at selecting them.
Who is the biggest moaner that you played with?
Michael Duberry who I played with at St Johnstone. Big Dubes was always moaning – he must have picked that up at Chelsea.
Who has been your most skilful teammate?
Filipe Morais who was also at St Johnstone. A really skilful player who scored for Bradford against Chelsea in this season’s FA Cup.
Who is the worst dressed teammate?
Our skipper at Queen of the South – Chris Higgins. All I can say is that he likes a pair of Vans!
Who is the best trainer?
Jody Morris always worked hard.
Who is the best dancer?
Michael Paton – he is full of moves both in the Dressing Room and the dancefloor.
