East Stirlingshire have named Craig Tully as their new manager after John Coughlin opted to step down at the end of the season.
As well as playing for Shire, the 38-year-old was as a centre-back with Dundee, Forfar Athletic, Ross County, Elgin City, Stenhousemuir, Peterhead, Arbroath and Clyde before joining up with former East Stirling manager Jim McInally as a player and a coach at Peterhead in October 2011.
Tully saw off competition from former Stenhousemuir assistant manager Kevin McGoldrick and Motherwell coach Ricky Waddell to clinch the job from an original field of over 20 applicants.
Club chairman Tony Ford said: “We are delighted to bring in Craig as he knows our club and was a popular figure when he was here. He is willing to leave success behind at Peterhead as he wants to develop his coaching career.
“He is a determined character, who was the captain at every club he played for, and we are sure that he will be a good leader here.”
Tully is expected to bring in his former Dundee team-mate George Shaw as his No 2 when he starts work next week.
