Blair Alston scored the only goal as Falkirk beat Dumbarton 1-0 to move to within three points of the lead in the Ladbrokes Championship.
Alston struck nine minutes before half-time at the Falkirk Stadium as Peter Houston's men continued their good run to strengthen their grip on third place.
Livingston leapfrogged St Mirren with a 4-1 win in Paisley as the Buddies slipped into the relegation play-off place. Liam Buchanan (2), Ben Gordon and Gary Glen all scored for the visitors, with Lawrence Shankland netting for Saints.
The game between Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and has been rearranged for Tuesday January 12.
