Fantasy Football: Your GW14 Preview

The cinch Premiership returns to kick off the busy winter schedule.

With the international break at an end, strap yourself in for uninterrupted cinch Premiership action from now until the start of 2024.

Let’s take a look at Gameweek 14.

Celtic v Motherwell

Luis Palma scored his first cinch Premiership goal in the previous meeting between the sides and since then he’s become a key player for Brendan Rodgers’ side with a goal and three assists in GW13.

Motherwell are aiming to halt a run of nine league matches without a win when they travel to Glasgow’s East End. Mika Biereth has proven a popular pick with Fantasy bosses and with four goals in six league matches it is easy to see why.

Dundee v Hibernian

Tony Docherty’s Dundee made a statement with a 4-0 win over St. Mirren in GW13 and, with five clean sheets in their last six league games, it is no shock that Trevor Carson and Joe Shaughnessy are the club’s two highest points scorers. Amadou Bakayoko scored a double last time out and he could be another smart pick up this weekend.

Hibernian got back to winning ways before the break with midfielder Josh Campbell making the vital contribution with the only goal against Kilmarnock. Campbell has claimed 66.3 points from just 351 minutes of league action to take his place as the highest scoring Hibernian midfielder.

Heart of Midlothian v St. Johnstone

Lawrence Shankland produced a captain’s display with a double against Motherwell at Fir Park and Steven Naismith will be looking for more of the same from his skipper after his international exploits for Scotland in Georgia.

Craig Levein returns to Tynecastle having helped to rejuvenate St. Johnstone in his early matches in charge. While strike duo Nicky Clark and Chris Kane have grabbed the headlines for the team’s attacking improvement, Graham Carey has also been hugely influential with goals and assists since Levein’s arrival. The Irishman is a player to consider for your squad this time around.

Ross County v Kilmarnock

Derek Adams has returned for a third spell in charge of the Staggies and his first test since replacing Malky Mackay comes at home to Kilmarnock.

Making Dingwall a fortress will be high on Adams’ list of tasks with County collecting just four home points from five matches to date – the joint lowest in the division. They can take heart from earning three points in the first meeting between these sides this season.

Kilmarnock will head up the A9 with ambitions of securing their first away league triumph of the campaign. They’ll have to do without Brad Lyons, who misses out through suspension, while captain Kyle Vassell has been described as "touch and go" for this one after missing GW13 v Hibernian.

St. Mirren v Livingston

Stephen Robinson’s men suffered a shock in GW13 and they’ll be looking to bounce back when Livingston are the visitors in Paisley. Ryan Strain, who is one of the game’s most picked defenders, was forced off during Australia’s win over Palestine in midweek.

Livingston are looking for their first win at this venue since August 2018, with David Martindale’s men on a run of five successive league defeats. Bruce Anderson remains Livi’s top scoring outfield player with 42.7 points collected this year.

Aberdeen v Rangers – Live on Sky Sports

In a dress rehearsal for December’s Viaplay Cup Final, the two sides meet at Pittodrie live on Sky Sports on Sunday.

Jamie McGrath was on target as the Dons ran out 3-1 winners when the teams last met in the league and the Irishman is Aberdeen’s leading scorer with 93.2 points.

James Tavernier has netted penalties in his last three Premiership matches and only Celtic’s Matt O’Riley has scored more points in Fantasy Football than the Rangers skipper.
