Paul Hegarty was on hand to promote the SPFL’s latest #fitbafriday fixture between his former clubs Hamilton Accies and Aberdeen – live on BT Sport at 7.45pm.
The Scotland internationalist began his professional career with Accies in 1972, signed by Lisbon Lion Ronnie Simpson, going on to spend two seasons in the old Second Division as a prolific striker.
He then moved to Dundee United where he reinvented himself as a top-class centre-half alongside David Narey, claiming a clutch of honours before finishing his playing career at St Johnstone and finally Forfar Athletic, where he served as player-manager.
Heggie also enjoyed a number of coaching and manager spells with Hearts, Dundee United and Aberdeen – where he was in the hot-seat for half a season in 1999 – before further spells as United boss and Livingston manager.
Ahead of this weekend’s #fitbafriday clash, he said: “It’s all set up for a great game – Accies are playing with little fear and, while Aberdeen haven’t quite hit their stride yet, we know what they are capable of.”
For Hamilton Accies tickets please visit the ticket office at New Douglas Park. A limited number of Aberdeen tickets will be available to buy at North Stand turnstiles 10, 11 and 12.
