Today marks the 40th anniversary of Aberdeen's famous victory over Real Madrid in Gothenburg when Alex Ferguson's side got their hands on the European Cup Winners' Cup.
The Dons had already knocked out Bayern Munich en route to the final and won 2-1 after extra time thanks to goals from Eric Black and substitute John Hewitt on a never-to-be-forgotten occasion at a rain-lashed Ullevi Stadium.
Willie Miller captained the team on their greatest night against Alfredo de Stefano's Real Madrid and there was further European glory to follow in season 1983/84 when the Dons defeated Hamburg 2-0 on aggregate to win the UEFA Super Cup.
