Gaston joins Morton

Shot-stopper makes step up to First Division

Derek GastonMorton have completed the signing of goalkeeper Derek Gaston from Second Division Albion Rovers.

The 25-year-old has been at the Coatbridge club for three years after being spotted playing on a public park in an amateur game and he went on to play over 90 times for the Cliftonhill side as they won promotion from the Third Division.

Gaston is giving up his job as a Life Guard to sign for the Cappielow side and he could make his Morton debut against his former colleagues as the two sides face each other at the start of the new season in the Ramsdens Cup.

Rovers boss Todd Lumsden said, “Derek has progressed really well at this club and he deserves his chance in the First Division. We wish him well there.”
