Morton have persuaded goalkeeper Derek Gaston to sign on for a further season despite their relegation to League 1.

The 27-year-old, who combines being a full-timer with a career as a lifeguard, joined the Greenock side from Albion Rovers in 2012 and has made more than 50 appearances.

Recently-appointed Morton manager Jim Duffy said: “I am pleased that Derek is staying. He has a good amount of experience and has played in a lot of games for both Morton and Albion Rovers.”

Duffy has also agreed terms with defender Thomas O’Ware to remain at Cappielow.
