Dundee United have confirmed that teenage midfielder Ryan Gauld has joined Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old has agreed a long-term deal with the Portuguese club, who were runners-up to Benfica in 2013/14.
Gauld progressed through the youth ranks at Tannadice and made his league debut in May 2012.
He was shortlisted for PFA Young Player of the Year after some outstanding performances last season but lost out to team-mate Andy Robertson.
A Dundee United spokesman said: "Everyone at the club wishes Ryan sincere best wishes in his future career."
