Golden Boot for Miller

Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller has received the SPL Golden Boot for finishing as top scorer with 21 goals in the 2010/11 Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Scotland frontman, with the squad in Dublin for the Carling Nations Cup double header against Wales and the Republic of Ireland, moved to Bursaspor in January but held on to pole position.

Miller averaged more than a goal a game before his departure from Ibrox and that was enough to see him finish one ahead of Celtic forward Gary Hooper at the end of the campaign.

He said: "It's been difficult in Turkey to be fair. There has been a lot of time away from the family, it's a different style of football and it's a different mentality so it has taken a bit to adapt.

"But it was a wee bonus for me at the end of the season, hanging on to that top goalscorer. It's something I never expected having left in January but it's always pleasing.

"The way things were going, I was playing in a good team, we were creating a lot of chances and I was playing regularly and getting on the end of those chances.

"To get 30-plus league goals would have been great but I had a decision to make at that stage and it was one where I had to go," added Miller, who follows Kris Boyd as top SPL marksman.
