Falkirk midfielder Thomas Grant is close to putting 10 months of misery behind him and returning to first-team action.
The 19-year-old son of former Aberdeen star Brian was a regular in the side until he was struck down by a virus last October.
Grant has now stepped his activity and has featured in U20 games as a substitute, with Technical director Alex Smith confident a first-team return is not far away.
Smith said: “It has been a disappointing time for Thomas but he is back playing football and we are hopeful he could be back in first-team reckoning within a month.
“His dad missed a lot of football when he was kid at Stirling Albion with me due to a double leg break but bounced back and played for many years at Aberdeen. Thomas does not need to look far for inspiration.”
