Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been voted SPFL Player of the Month for April after scoring seven goals last month.

The former Livingston, Dundee, Wolves and Hibernian forward netted second-half hat-tricks against Kilmarnock and Dundee United and was also on target in the 1-1 draw at Inverness CT.

The 24-year-old continued his good form into May, scoring the opener in the 5-0 win over Dundee which took Ronny Deila's side to the brink of the Premiership title and they clinched it the following day when Aberdeen were beaten by Dundee United.

Griffiths told the Celtic website: "Since the turn of the year I’ve hit a good run of form and people are seeing the real Leigh Griffiths that was at Hibs a couple of seasons ago and was scoring goals for fun in the Premier League.

“My goals-to-games ratio is now up there with the best. It’s a good stat and it was great to score a hat-trick on my 50th appearance."
