Hearts have agreed a deal to sign former Rangers goalkeeper Neil Alexander as a player/coach when his contract with Crystal Palace expires at the end of the month.
The 36-year-old has also previously played for Stenhousemuir, Livingston, Cardiff and Ipswich and has won three Scotland caps.
Alexander told the club's official website: "As a boyhood Hearts fan, I am delighted to get the chance to join a club I have supported for many years.
"I need to start looking to the future and want to get involved in coaching. The club has given me a great chance to get a foot on the ladder and it's an opportunity I just couldn't turn down.”
