Hearts beat Hibernian 2-0 in the Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon.
Dale Carrick scored after just six minutes and Gary Locke's men sealed victory with a breakaway goal from substitute Billy King in stoppage time.
Hibs thought they had equalised with eight minutes left but Jordan Forster's header was disallowed for offside and Alan Maybury then saw red for a second booking.
A defeat would have seen Hearts relegated to the Championship but instead they beat their rivals for the second time at Tynecastle this season.
