Hibernian owner Sir Tom Farmer and chairman Rod Petrie today officially opened the club's new £4.9m Training Complex in East Mains near Tranent.

The state of the art facility includes five international size grass pitches, a floodlit international size FIFA Two Star synthetic pitch and a smaller version of the artificial surface indoors.

Also on site is a gym, medical facilities and a hydrotherapy pool plus a players' lounge, offices and a dining room.

Chairman Rod Petrie said: "The need for access to better training facilities had been identified as a priority by successive managers and to be able to deliver the club's own top-class training centre is very satisfying.

"More importantly, the coaches and players will have access to the very best training facilities every day and this will help the club build on its outstanding reputation for the development of young players."

Manager John Collins added: "The facility is better than anything I have worked with in England or in France. It should also be a major selling point in bringing professional players to the club, along with our stadium and the city itself."
