Falkirk are looking for a new manager after Gary Holt accepted a coaching role at his former club Norwich City.
The 41-year-old ex-Scotland and Kilmarnock midfielder had been in charge since April 2013 and guided the Bairns into the Premiership play-offs in the season just ended, where they lost to Hamilton Accies in the semi-finals.
He has now opted to link up with manager Neil Adams at Carrow Road as the Canaries bid to make an immediate return to the top flight.
Chairman Martin Ritchie said: "The club fully understands Gary’s wishes to return with his family to Norwich. We would like to wish him every success in the future and to thank him for all his work at Falkirk over the last year.”
The Bairns will draw up a shortlist of potential replacements by the end of the week, with the intention of having a new manager in place before the start of pre-season training on Thursday June 26.
