The former Livingston and Bradford City boss had been in charge at Cappielow since May 2019 but has now left the Greenock club.
Morton, who travel to East End Park tomorrow to play Dunfermline Athletic, have confirmed that Anton McElhone will take over as interim manager, with support from senior players Chris Millar, Jim McAlister and Brian McLean.
