Falkirk have named Peter Houston as their new manager following the departure of Gary Holt to take up a coaching role at Norwich City.
The 55-year-old former Dundee United boss has also worked as an assistant at Hearts and Leicester, as well as the Scotland team, and was recently employed as a scout for Celtic.
Houston was the unanimous choice of the board after a six-man shortlist was drawn up from a list of 41 applicants and he is a member of the Falkirk Hall of Fame, having played more than 200 games for the Bairns.
Chairman Martin Ritchie told the club website: "I am thrilled that we have managed to attract someone of the calibre of Peter.
“Not only was Peter a football legend at Falkirk, he has extensive experience of management and coaching at all levels. There will be no major changes to the club’s football philosophy - we will continue to focus on developing our own players through the Academy and the Under 20s.
“Peter will bring that extra dimension which will enable to us to challenge for promotion in what will be a very exciting Championship.”
