Albion Rovers have parted company with midfielder Peter Innes after the player was advised he would not be part of manager James Ward’s plans for their final game of the season at home to Queen’s Park.
The 24-year-old former Motherwell player missed a large chunk of this season after suffering a leg injury when he was hit by a taxi as he made his way home from watching Scotland play Belgium in a World Cup qualifier back in September.
Innes recovered to play in three recent games but he asked to be released early after dropping out of Ward’s plans.
Ward said: “Peter wanted away early so we agreed that he could go ahead of the preparation for the Queen’s Park game. We wish him well in whatever he does next.”
