Stirling Albion skipper Darren Smith and fellow senior player Ross Forsyth are not in the running to become the League 1 club's next manager.
The pair have agreed to look after first-team affairs on a caretaker basis following the resignation of Greig McDonald in the wake of Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir.
Chairman Stuart Brown said: “Darren and Ross are very much in interim charge and neither of them are being considered for, or are interested in applying for, the job on a permanent basis.
“They had a meeting with the players on Tuesday night, prior to taking training. They are very much concentrating on preparing for this weekend’s fixture against Airdrieonians but are aware that it is almost certain we will be looking to them to take things forward for the following week’s Scottish Cup tie against Hurlford as we continue the process of appointing a new manager.
“I am delighted with the energy and enthusiasm they have displayed in setting about getting us back on track following the events of last Saturday."
