Ginger Boot Award

IRN-BRU SFL Phenomenal Ginger Boot Award for November 2011

IRN-BRU Ginger Boot Winner – Darren Gribben (Berwick Rangers)

Berwick Rangers striker Darren Gribben made up for a sluggish start to the season to pip Airdrie United's Ryan Donnelly in the chase for November’s Ginger Boot Award based on the number of assists he made after they had been tied on five IRN-BRU SFL goals apiece.

Darren Gribben - Ginger Boot Award winner for November 2011Gribben netted an equaliser against Elgin City on 5th November, netted twice against East Stirlingshire four days later in a 3-1 win before completing a fine three week spell by netting a brace in a 5-3 success at Montrose.

Gribben said: “I was in and out of the team at the start of the season as I was not scoring goals.  I then got sent off against Annan and was missing but things fell into place last month.

“Of the five goals I scored, my favourite would be the equaliser against Elgin as we had been behind for quite some time and we were also down to ten men.  It was also Ian Little’s first game in charge so it was quite good to get a point for him.”

The former Hamilton Academical, Cowdenbeath, Forfar Athletic, Stirling Albion and Stranraer hitman already possess a pair of Ginger Boots for his exploits in September 2010 and this new pair will join them on display in the Gribben household.

Gribben said: “The new pair are Puma ones and the previous pair were Nike and they both look really good but I have always worn Adidas boots so I have not worn the Ginger ones in a game yet.

“I will need to win another pair and hopefully, get an Adidas set so I can put them on for a game.”
