Dunfermline and their home grown centre back Kerr Young have parted company to allow the 21 year old to secure regular first team football.
Young who signed a new contract in the summer was a regular in the Pars defence last season however he recently approached manager Jim Jefferies, to discuss his future after not establishing himself as a first pick in pre-season.
Jefferies told Kerr that there was no guarantee of a first team position and the youngster has opted to leave with Jefferies saying: “Kerr is at an age where he should be playing every week and he may not get that here. He has been with the club for a long time and we have agreed to cancel his contract to allow him to look elsewhere.”
“Everyone at Dunfermline wish him well in the rest of his career.”
