Kilmarnock unveil McCulloch

Kilmarnock have confirmed the signing of former Motherwell, Wigan and Rangers man Lee McCulloch in a player/coach role.

Kilmarnock have confirmed the signing of former Motherwell, Wigan and Rangers man Lee McCulloch in a player/coach role.

The 37-year-old will work alongside manager Gary Locke and fellow assistant coach Peter Leven but will also be available to play if required.

McCulloch is the Rugby Park club's eighth new arrival this summer, joining Scott Robinson (Hearts), Jamie MacDonald (Falkirk), Kallum Higginbotham (Partick Thistle), Kris Boyd (Rangers), Steven Smith (Rangers), Stuart Findlay (Celtic, loan) and Dale Carrick (Hearts).

Locke told the club website: "I am really pleased to have secured Lee as assistant player/coach. He has all his coaching qualifications and I am confident he will contribute a lot to the club.

“The plan is for Lee to work with the squad and help guide them. He will work with both the first and development team.”

McCulloch added: "I think it’s fair to say the club hasn’t reached its potential in the last few seasons but we have big aspirations for the future and I want to help the club get back to where it once was - for me that starts with a top-six spot.”
