Craig Cairns charts the progress of Partick Thistle forward Kris Doolan for this week's goal map feature.
Kris Doolan has been a mainstay in the Partick Thistle squad for seven years now, with a number of other strikers coming and going in that time. Signed from Junior side Auchinleck Talbot in 2009, Doolan has since netted 83 goals for the Jags.
He took his tally to eight for the season against St Johnstone on Tuesday night, meaning he has now scored a third of Thistle’s league goals this season. This is despite spells out of the starting XI. Doolan has made 16 league starts this season, another six appearances have come from the bench.
Thistle are the lowest scorers in the league with 24, but have conceded the third least amount of goals. This defensive record, which also includes nine clean sheets, is what they have based their success upon this season.
Doolan’s goals have been assisted in a number of ways this campaign. He has got on the end of a set-piece, a high cross and a low cross to score. He can also nip in behind the defence to race on to a through ball, like he did against St Johnstone most recently, and he can also sniff around the six-yard box and take advantage of any rebounds that fall his way.
Even though he and Thistle have scored less goals than they would have liked this season, he remains a vital part of Alan Archibald’s attack.
