Brechin boss Ray McKinnon takes his in-form team south to face League 1 leaders Stranraer at Stair Park on Saturday.
City are into the top four after beating Ayr 2-1 last weekend while the Blues’ 4-2 victory over Forfar moved them five points clear at the summit.
McKinnon said: “We are in good form just now and the boys are playing well, as our run of results would suggest. We are up to 12 games unbeaten in all competitions and this period has changed how people are looking at our season.”
Brechin’s last defeat came at the hands of Stephen Aitken’s side back in October and McKinnon said: “Our run could actually have been even better as we have dropped a few points from winning positions. We were ahead in four league games in a row but lost the lead in each of them. In fact, in three of them we lost the lead in the closing stages.
“If games lasted for only 85 minutes then we would be top of the league but I am not complaining too much. There have been good performances and we are up to fourth place after three back-to back-wins where we have seen games out.
“We have been lucky with injuries, with only Callum Tapping out and our loan players Jamie Masson, Kyle McAusland and Craig Wighton have delivered as well.
“Jamie has gone back to Aberdeen now and Kyle has just been released by Rangers - we were keen to bring him back but he has gone to Dunfermline. Craig has a great future in the game and it would be great to have him for a bit longer.
“Stranraer have bounced back well from losing to Stenhousemuir a couple of weeks ago. They had been unbeaten for a long time and people were wondering how they would react - well they have reacted positively by going to the top of the league.
“It should be a very good game and hopefully we can go one better than the game at Stair Park earlier in the season. We were winning until the 95th minute when they sent over a corner and the ball flew into the net to tie the score at 2-2.
“They also won at our place so we are very keen to get the three points. It is good to be back in the top four but it is all about where we end up.”
