Albion Rovers are aiming to bounce back from their Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Berwick in midweek by defeating Clyde at Broadwood.

League 2 Manager of the Month Darren Young will look for his side to give themselves the maximum chance of getting the points after playing the Bully Wee with only 10 men for 87 minutes in their last meeting.

Rovers goalkeeper Neil Parry recalled: “That was a strange game as Ciaran Donnelly was sent off really early on after he gave away a penalty. Clyde scored and we did well to come back from that and get a 2-2 draw. They went ahead a second time from a penalty as well, so it really was a hard-fought point.

“I don’t think I have ever been beaten by two penalties in the one game before, apart from in shoot-outs. I usually fancy myself at penalties but Scott McManus did well that day.

“When I was with Queen’s Park I saved three penalties in a row in a shoot-out in a cup tie at Berwick before scoring the decisive penalty.”

The Coatbridge side have already shown their ‘bouncebackability’ as they lost a nine-game unbeaten run at Annan last midweek but got the better of Elgin on Saturday.

Parry added: “It was good to bounce back last weekend as how you go about games after losing is always a test. We had been on a very good run and it was important to react well after that setback.

“It was a very strong performance against Elgin and I felt that we controlled the game well. We will need a similar performance against Clyde.

“There is now a bit of a gap between the other sides and ourselves, Arbroath and Queen’s Park however anyone can beat anyone in this league.  Berwick are a really good side, and showed that the other night, but perhaps have not been as consistent as they would have liked.

“We want to carry on at the top challenging but we are not getting carried away. It is far too early to say that we will do this or do that.

“This is my second season at the Rovers and I have seen a lot of changes. The chairman came in during the summer with ambitious plans for the team and the ground.

“A small terracing has already been made behind one of the goals but I don’t think it will be used much with the weather we have been having recently. He wants us to be a family-friendly club and build on the success of the low-price season ticket offer that was introduced for this season.”

On a personal level, Parry is proving to be the meanest goalkeeper in League 2, having conceded only 11 goals and he said: “I am happy with my own form as well. This is my fourth season at a senior level and it would be nice after a couple of near misses if I could finally achieve a promotion.”
