We are deeply saddened to learn that former Celtic and Hibernian midfielder Liam Miller has passed away at the age of just 36.

The thoughts of everyone at the SPFL are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

Liam began his career at Celtic, making his first-team debut in May 2000 and scoring a memorable goal against Lyon in the Champions League in 2003.

He moved to Manchester United in 2004 and went on to play for Leeds United, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers before returning north to join Hibernian from 2009-11.

A hugely gifted footballer, Liam earned 21 caps for the Republic of Ireland in a career that also took in spells in Australia, the United States and with Cork City, who were his home-town club.
