Livingston are helping to re-launch the career of one of their CIS Cup winners from 2004, midfielder Burton O’Brien, who has been out of the game for over 18 months by signing the 31 year old on a short term deal until December.
O’Brien, who played for Scotland’s Under-21 side 6 times also donned the colours of St. Mirren, Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday and Falkirk with his last competitive game being a 3-0 defeat to Dunfermline in May 2011.
A trial period at Airdrie earlier in the season failed to end in a deal and after training with the Braidwood Motor Company squad and featuring in reserve games a new deal with the Lions and he played in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Falkirk.
The club’s Director of Football John Collins saying, “Burton’s experience and ability will be invaluable to us throughout a series of hard fixtures between now and January.”
