Arbroath No 2 Todd Lumsden admitted a first-half red card for Brian McQueen was a key factor as the Red Lichties beat Clyde 5-2 at Broadwood on Saturday.
A double from on-loan Dundee player Dylan Carreiro helped make it five wins in six games for Allan Moore's side as they returned to the League 2 summit.
Lumsden said: "We made it hard for ourselves by letting them back in it twice in the first half but the sending off changed the game and we did well in the second half."
Clyde are now bottom of the table as they prepare to face Montrose at Broadwood in a rearranged game on Tuesday night.
