New Hamilton signing Kieran MacDonald reckons that despite working hard to rescue his career with Clyde over the past two years he needs to work even harder to prove himself at the Accies.
The 20-year-old marauding left-back completed the paperwork on his deal to join the newly-promoted New Douglas Park side earlier this week and he is delighted to be a full-time footballer again.
MacDonald said: “When I was released by Motherwell in 2012 I was a left-sided midfielder or attacker and at the time I never thought I would end up getting things back on track and being a full-back at a Premiership club.
“I played in the Exit Trials and Jim Duffy saw enough in me to give me an opportunity at Clyde. Both Jim and his assistant Chic Charnley worked hard with me to help turn me into a full-back that likes to go forward.
“I knew a couple of clubs were looking at me but I just tried to play my normal game. Hamilton were at our play-off game against East Fife and they made contact after that. I then went and watched them play Falkirk and it was great that they won that tie and then beat Hibs.
“It was great to get the deal sorted but I know no matter how hard I worked to get this chance I need to work even harder to make the most of it.”
