The former St Johnstone skipper took over at Forthbank in November 2016 and guided the Binos to third place in Ladbrokes League 2 last season.
However, a poor finish to that campaign and six defeats out of eight in the league so far this term saw his near two-year reign come to an end on Saturday evening.
