St Mirren beat Queen of the South 1-0 in Paisley to move to within four points of the play-offs in the Ladbrokes Championship.
It took Saints until last weekend to record their first home league win of the season but Alex Rae's men followed that up with another victory to leapfrog Dumbarton and go seventh in the table.
Stephen Mallan got the only goal of the game after 25 minutes to leave Queen of the South outside the top four on goal difference.
