Mark McGuigan and Partick Thistle finally agreed an amicable parting at the weekend after nearly two years together and that allowed the 25-year-old to join Albion Rovers on a permanent basis until the end of the season.
The front man joined the Firhill side in March 2012 after starring in a bounce match for the Scottish Universities side and played in over 20 games, however he has not featured in their first team since the end of last season.
McGuigan enjoyed 3 loan spells with the Coatbridge side and Cliftonhill Manager James Ward had to be patient as the striker and Partick negotiated a deal to see him leave the Jags ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.
Ward said: “We are delighted to have Mark here until the end of the season at least. There was not much we could do until Mark left Partick and as soon as that was agreed we got him here.”
“He has played very well for us this season and he will be a big figure from now until the end of the season.”
