Peterhead sign Stevenson

Peterhead manager Jim McInally has signed midfielder Jamie Stevenson for a third time, with the 29-year-old leaving Cowdenbeath after two years to link up with his former boss at Morton and East Stirlingshire.

The Blue Toon have been backed by their Supporters Club, who have helped with the cost of bringing Stevenson to the club.

Stevenson was released by Aberdeen as a youngster and spent time with Spanish side Real Mallorca after they spotted him playing on a beach. He failed to make the grade on the sunshine island and returned home to play for Alloa where his form led to his first meeting with McInally at Cappielow.

The pair were re-united at the Shire before Stevenson moved on to Airdrie and then the Central Park side.

McInally said: “Jamie is a player that I know well and I am delighted to bring him here. He is great at keeping the ball and taking the game to teams and I have to thank our fans for their support.

“He has a lot of technical ability - there will be real competition for places now and that will lift us.”
