Queen of the South manager Jim McIntyre was delighted to keep hold of coach Billy Dodds in the wake of his No 2 Gerry McCabe departing for Dundee.

McIntyre said: "Billy came in and worked with Gerry and I last season during the week and he was a key member of my backroom team. He does not make all of our games due to his media work but more than makes up for that during the week with the players.

"With Gerry taking the chance to move up to the Premiership to work with Paul Hartley it was really important that Billy remained in place. I am delighted he is doing so and that we have added James Fowler from Kilmarnock as a player/coach as well.”
