Queen of the South have defeated Morton twice this season however Manager Jim McIntyre knows that goes for nothing as the Greenock men have very different personnel these days.
McIntyre said: “There could be at least 7 new faces since we beat them 2-0 in November so what we have done before does not matter. Kenny Shiels is just in as their new manager and after assessing the squad he obviously wanted to make changes.”
“The Chairman has given him his backing and Kenny must see this as a way to get his team lifted. Bringing in good experienced players will help and if he gets everyone fit and integrated they can climb the table.”
The Greenock’s side’s struggle this season is not too much of a shock to McIntyre who said: “However having spent a fair bit of my management career in this Division nothing surprises me. Unexpected results week in and week out show you how tough it is. The introduction of the Play-Offs has kept the League bubbling even more and Morton are probably the only team not in the running for a Play-Off place at the moment.”
“They had a great season last year so some people might think it is a surprise but there were a lot of changes in the summer. They may still move up the table but hopefully that will start after they play us.”
