Brechin City have added former St. Mirren and Queen of the South Assistant Manager Andy Millen to their coaching staff for the new season.
Millen left Palmerston just before the end of last season when his long-time partner Gus McPherson split from the club and after helping Glebe Park manager Jim Weir and his assistant Kevin McGowne in pre-season Millen has been appointed.
The 47-year-old had a long playing career with 10 clubs that looked to have ended at St Mirren as the oldest player to have featured in a SPL game aged 42 years and 279 days, however after leaving the Paisley side at the same time as McPherson in the summer of 2010, and following a short spell as assistant manager at Hamilton, Millen donned his playing boots again.
Aged 45 Millen turned out for Queen’s Park and helped the Hampden side reach the promotion Play-Offs before moving on to Dumfries to work with McPherson again.
Weir said, “I am delighted to have someone with Andy’s experience on board. I have known him a long time and my assistant Kevin McGowne has known him even longer so we know what he can bring to a club.”
