Kenny Miller scored the only goal as Rangers defeated Queen of the South 1-0 at Palmerston on Sunday afternoon in a testimonial match for veteran defender Jim Thomson.

The beaten goalkeeper was Neil Alexander who was loaned to the hosts for the afternoon after Roddy McKenzie was injured in the first half and no other Queens keeper was available.

Elsewhere, Aberdeen bounced back from Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Fraserburgh to beat Second Division Peterhead 2-0 at Balmoor. Mitch Megginson and Michael Paton netted for the Dons.

Dundee United drew 0-0 with Polish side Arka Gdynia in Austria where Peter Houston's men are based for a pre-season training camp.
