Montrose have received applications from across the world to replace manager Stuart Garden.
Applications have been sent to Links Park from coaches in Trinidad & Tobago, America and Europe, as well as closer to home, with the board expected to whittle down the 30-plus applications into a shortlist this week.
Caretaker boss George Shields, who has been at the League 2 club since 2008 as Head of Youth, has opted to apply for the position after two weeks in temporary charge.
The former manager of Junior sides Dundee St Joseph’s and Dundee Violet, as well as coach at Dundee United, Dundee and Brechin City, said: “I have enjoyed my two weeks in charge and have decided I would like to apply to be the permanent manager of Montrose.
“I have been around the club for a while and have a good rapport with the players that I would like to build on.”
