The season is over for Morton’s January signing Ben Sampayo after he was ruled out for three months with a knee injury picked up in a reserve game.
The 21-year-old, who was a youth player at Chelsea before moving on to Brighton and Chelmsford City, has played just 58 minutes of the Cappielow club's battle to avoid relegation.
Manager Kenny Shiels said: “We have now got the final diagnosis and Ben is out for several months. It is very disappointing as he is a good player and the reserve game was being used to get him fit for the first team.”
