Murray star man in Team of the Week

Craig Fowler picks his SPFL Team of the Week, singling out Dundee United striker Simon Murray for special recognition.

Craig Fowler, Director of Football at the Terrace Scottish Football Podcast, picks his SPFL Team of the Week, singling out Dundee United striker Simon Murray for special recognition.

GK - John Gibson (Clyde)
Clyde made their way into the League 1 play-off final after defeating Elgin home and away. However, they had their goalkeeper to thank midway through the first half in the second leg when, with the score still at 0-0 and Clyde holding a 3-1 aggregate advantage, he managed to repel Steven Ross' shot in a one-on-one situation.

DC - Lucas Tagliapietra (Hamilton Accies)
Hamilton got the result they needed to keep them in the Ladbrokes Premiership for another season. Carlton Morris put them ahead in the eighth minute and through a stellar defensive performance, led by Brazilian-born defender Lucas, they managed to hold on for the 1-0 win at Dundee.

DC - Frederic Frans (Partick Thistle)
Similarly, Thistle got the win they needed to be absolutely certain of safety as they went to Kilmarnock, who were on a high following last week's win at Hamilton, and won 2-0. Frans did an excellent job of marshalling Killie striker Kris Boyd and nullifying his threat.

DC - Peter Murphy (Ayr United)
The veteran campaigner rolled back the years to ensure Ayr saw a comfortable passage into the play-off final. Rory McAllister is always a handful, but the 35-year-old used his experience to keep him quiet during the 2-1 win.

MR - Patrick Roberts (Celtic)
The £12 million kid was electric in the first half of Celtic's 3-2 victory over Aberdeen. After making beating Graeme Shinnie (no easy task) and smashing the ball in from distance, he then doubled his side's advantage, putting them on course for victory and sealing the title in the process.

MC - Sean Welsh (Partick Thistle)
Welsh covered every inch of the field in Thistle's 2-0 win at Kilmarnock and came so close to grabbing a stunning goal when his strike hit the crossbar.

MC - Callum McGregor (Celtic)
The midfielder was full of running at the heart of the Celtic midfield as they raced into a 3-0 lead over the runners-up before a few slips allowed Aberdeen back into the match. He scored what would eventually become the winning goal with a cool finish shortly after half-time.

ML - Dylan McGeouch (Hibernian)
McGeouch is a hugely calming influence in the Hibernian midfield. His ability to commit players, dictate possession and play with real energy and dynamism makes him such a valuable part of Alan Stubbs’ side. He showed these qualities in Saturday's 2-0 win over Raith Rovers, a result which secured Hibs’ place in the Ladbrokes Premiership play-off semi-final.

FC - Simon Murray (Dundee United)
Simon Murray gave United fans a glimmer of hope through his performance against Inverness CT on Friday night. He is one of a handful of players who've been told they will be a part of the side next season and he demonstrated the positivity of his presence by scoring one goal and making two others in the team's 3-2 win in the Highlands. This week's star man.

FC - Steven MacLean (St Johnstone)
The veteran striker has been in great form recently and he continued his strong ending to the season with a goal and an overall top performance in Saints' 2-1 away win at Motherwell.

FC - Jamie Longworth (Stranraer)
Stranraer got the fright of their lives when, seemingly assured of their place in the Ladbrokes Championship play-off final, they allowed Livingston to score twice in the dying minutes, levelling the tie on aggregate. However, they kept at it, and when Jamie Longworth added to Liam Dick's goal, late in extra time, their passage into the final was assured.
